The Cremation System The Lakefield Crematorium features a state of the art Crawford C1000H computer controlled Cremation System. This system was chosen because of its high level of engineering with zero emissions, far below the minimum acceptable emissions set by the EPA standards for crematoria.
Final Disposition Many feel that the cremated remains of someone they loved should have a special place that can be identified with their name and dates. A dedicated place within the Lakefield Cemetery ensures that the site chosen will not be developed for some other use in the future, and that a record of the life lived will be preserved for future generations. For more information regarding cremation please feel free to visit Cremation - Overview Of Services. The Cemeteries Act provides that there shall be no interment without the consent of the owner of the burial rights. If the original owner has died without transferring the burial rights to individuals, the correct interpretation of "owner" is all those who have interest in the burial plots. The burial of cremated remains in an existing grave is also subject to the Rules and Regulations of each cemetery. Most cemeteries will accept authorization for interment of cremated remains with the written consent of the owner. It is the executor's responsibility to assure that authorization is obtained from all those entitled before a burial can take place. The forms found under "Pre-Planning Information" on this website are provided as guidelines as to what authorization should include. It would be prudent to verify with the cemetery that these forms are acceptable before being completed.
Arrangements can be made for a private tour to view this facility, at a mutually convenient time, through the Lakefield Cemetery Office.
